Fitness Tip of the Week: A lot of people think that the more time you spent in the gym, the greater the gains and size you will receive. In fact, workouts longer than an hour can actually hinder your body’s ability to recover and produce gains. Keep your workouts between 45-60 minutes max. The higher intensity is great for your heart and the gains that you will receive will be great for your ego : )
(Physiologically – your body starts to produce a stress hormone called cortisol, which acts a defensive-line against testosterone once you roughly surpass the 60 minute mark. Basically cortisol creates a muscle-wasting effect.)
Nutrition Tip of the Week: Believe it or not, Popeye was actually on to something (no, not the fast-food chain with amazing biscuits). Infamously known as a muscle-builder, spinach is also rich in vitamin K, a natural bone-mineral density builder that has shown to reduce rates of fractures in humans. This magical vegetable is also high in calcium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, and love. Try spinach in your salad, sandwich, or wrap.
“He’s strong to the finich cause he eats his spinach, he’s Popeye the sailor man.” – Popeye the Sailorman
