A huge problem with exercise is that people get bored and therefore don’t stick with the program. So why not make it fun? These organizers did…
This colorful 5K provides participants with a makeover that is unlike any other. If you would enjoy getting pelted with the colors of the rainbow, this is the event for you! This run is less about speed and more about fun; which is what exercise should really be about. Just show up with a white t-shirt and enjoy yourself! The color is “a special “elf made” recipe of magical color dust,” that is “100% natural and safe.”
Zombie apocalypse? Oh yes, it’s happening. Russell Tan mentioned this event is his post, “4 Tips to (Hopefully) Prepare For A Zombie Apocalypse (Hopefully Not)“, which includes rad training tips that are sure to help you kick it up a notch. This course is a 5K where you are running from “brain-hungry, virus-spreading, bloody zombies.” Now if that doesn’t sound delightful, then I don’t know what does! Participants are equipped with flags (similar to flag football) and must race to the finish line before zombies eat their brains! (Or… confiscate their flags. I confuse the two.) Race through obstacle courses and come out alive (hehe) with at least one flag left! There is also an “Apocalypse Party” afterward where free “adult beverages are provided.” Training hints include “Run. Watch some zombie movies. Run some more.” It’s the end of the world, so run like it!
I saved the largest event for last. Prepare for a filthy 8K with over 20 obstacles, which include crawling under a barbed wire and a giant mud slide! Like the former event, they also have an afterparty called the “Warrior Party.” Theirs involves food/drink, music, and games (including a mud wrestling & arm wrestling contest!). This is sure to be an event to remember! In fact, they have a rap to remember it by.
Whether you enjoy one of these events or find another (share in comments please!), make your exercise enjoyable (so that you’ll keep going back for more!).
